Von Miller begins first training camp as a Buffalo Bill

The 33-year old edge rusher is settling into his first camp at St. John Fisher University

Well, the day many of us have been waiting for has finally come. Bills training camp is back, baby! The Bills took the field at St. John Fisher University yesterday morning in front of a sellout crowd in Rochester, NY. There were a lot of new faces practicing in front of the public for the first time, but none attracted quite the amount of buzz as future Hall of Famer Von Miller. And, Miller was happy to be out there in front of Bills Mafia:

Miller was participating in drills and looked as good as he always has. On Sunday’s episode of ‘Shout! The Buffalo Football Podcast‘ with Matt Parrino and Ryan Talbot of Syracuse.com, the two mentioned a specific play where Miller’s greatness was on display. Miller supposedly had a rep on the first day of camp where he blew by David Quessenberry with a quick spin move and was in the face of Josh Allen for what would have been a sack in a real game.

Miller’s presence on the team and his addition to the d-line is going to be incredible. He’s a big time player that can make huge plays in any game or situation, and he’s a guy that the Bills have been missing. Miller had some very fun and interesting quotes in his press conference after the first training camp practice as a Buffalo Bill.

“It’s different… being 33 and in a dorm room,” Miller laughed when asked about his thoughts of traveling for a training camp. He went on to say that he’s “all for it” and that it will help build relationships with his teammates.

When asked about his potential usage and snap counts for this upcoming year, Miller said, “I plan on being on the field as much as possible. I want to be out there helping my teammates and making plays. That’s what I want to do.” He doesn’t care about getting up there in age. As long as his body feels well, he’s wants to be out on the field.

When asked about how every training camp session was sold out and about how high the expectations are for this year, Miller responded by saying, “I saw the documentary about the four Super Bowls in a row that they lost… I want to get familiar with the fans. It’s definitely high expectations, but we have high expectations. Having high expectations is a privilege… we have a great quarterback and great team. We’re going to take it one day at a time.”

Miller, along with the rest of the team, is very focused on taking things “one day at a time.” He is still getting acclimated to the city, to the fans, and to the locker room. It’s going to be an adjustment for him, but if anyone is ready for that challenge, it’s him. We’re all excited to see him take the field as a Bill Week 1 against his former team in the LA Rams. For now, we’ll enjoy watching him at St. John Fisher as he gets acclimated to the fans and the environment, and let’s make sure to show him a ton of love and appreciation for wanting to be a part of an already special team.
