The Buffalo Bills will return to St. John Fisher University in Rochester, New York for training camp for the 24th time later this month. Starting on July 23, the Bills will hold 12 total practices, with 11 of them open to the public, including the annual “Return of the Blue and Red” practice which will take place at Highmark Stadium on August 1. Camp will conclude on August 7 ahead of their first preseason game on August 9.

Here are five storylines to watch for this summer:

Josh Allen & Joe Brady

The Buffalo Bills offense has been one of the most electric offensive units the league has seen in recent years with MVP quarterback Josh Allen at the helm. Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady is sticking around another year after many talks about him leaving for a head coaching job following last season. The pair of Allen and Brady has only grown over their years together, from Brady being Allen’s QB coach, to now calling plays for him on the field. This duo will be something to keep your eye on come July 23rd, where they will showcase their chemistry and possibly some new and improved plays come camp time.

Wide receiving corps

The Buffalo Bills have made some new additions at the wide receiver position this offseason, adding former Chargers WR Joshua Palmer along with his former high school teammate Elijah Moore. Palmer and Moore will be two players to watch come training camp. Will Palmer and Moore pair well with Allen?Come training camp we should get a good look at what to expect from these new wide receiver additions along with how well they will do with Allen.

Another receiver to keep an eye on is second-year wide receiver Keon Coleman, who played 13 games in his rookie season after missing a four-game stretch due to a hand/wrist injury. Reports stirring so far from the Bills mandatory minicamp claim that Coleman is looking bigger and stronger than last year. Training camp will give a good look at how and what he’s improved.

Defensive overhaul

The Bills made a lot of moves on the defensive side of the ball this offseason, most notably in the 2025 NFL draft. The Bills drafted Kentucky cornerback Maxwell Hairston with their first round pick to help out in the secondary. Hairston is someone to watch this upcoming training camp to see how he will hold up if thrown into a starting role with the defense.

In addition to Hairston in the secondary, the Bills brought in a familiar face, veteran CB Tre’Davious White. White was drafted by Buffalo in 2017 and played seven seasons with the Bills before going elsewhere. He now returns for his 10th season in the league at 30 years old. White is someone to watch in this year’s training camp, possibly taking more of a leadership role in the Bills’ young developing secondary.

Other rookies to keep an eye on are defensive lineman T.J. Sanders out of South Carolina, Landon Jackson, defensive end out of Arkansas, and defensive tackle Deone Walker out of Kentucky. Brandon Beane and the Bills front office made it a point to go defense in this year’s draft and beef up the defensive line, and that they did.

James Cook and the running backs

James Cook and the Buffalo Bills running back room has only improved over the years, with Cook having one of his best seasoning running the ball last year, leading the league in rushing touchdowns with 16 (tied with Jahmyr Gibbs and Derrick Henry.) Cook has been a great back for Buffalo, yet he has been wanting a contract extension which is on par with some of the highest paid backs in the league. Despite the continued back-and-forth between the Bills and Cook on a contract extension, Cook was still a full participant in the Bills minicamp practices. The Bills front office and Cook will continue to build a stronger partnership with ongoing discussions about a contract extension going forward.

James Cook’s contract extension aside, the Bills still have valuable running backs that feed on Buffalo’s offensive system with Joe Brady at the helm. Ray Davis, RB out of Kentucky in 2024, had himself a great rookie season behind Cook. Davis is now heading into his second season with the Bills and should look to only improve his skill sets going forward, especially if the Bills and Cook cannot work out a deal by the end of his rookie deal. Davis is a key component of the Bills offense that should be someone to watch come training camp.

HBO’s Hard Knocks

The Buffalo Bills are set to be featured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” training camp edition. According to the NFL, the Bills became eligible for selection into the docuseries due to the revised rules this offseason. MVP Josh Allen will have a lot of airtime on the series, as well as storylines such as James Cook’s contract negotiations. Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills will premiere August 5th on HBO Max.
