The Buffalo Bills announced the signings of three players to the 53-man roster this week. The first two were announced Wednesday, as they brought back defensive tackles Jordan Phillips and Quinton Jefferson. Two days later, they announced that wide receiver Jalen Virgil has been signed from the practice squad.

Jordan Phillips was released by the Dallas Cowboys after Tuesday’s trade deadline. He appeared in two games for the Cowboys, finishing with just two total tackles. He returns to Buffalo for his third stint with the team.

Last season with the Bills, he had a 35.8 defensive grade from PFF. He’ll join the defensive line rotation and look to provide a spark with his pass rush ability and energetic play. Phillips has been a fan favorite in Buffalo as he’s very vocal about his love for the city.

DT Quinton Jefferson

Quinton Jefferson also returns to Buffalo for his second stint with the team. He appeared in five games for the Cleveland Browns before being cut after the deadline. In Cleveland, he made six total tackles and had one sack. He received a 50.7 defensive grade from PFF.

At 6’4″, 291 lbs., the Bills will look for him to eat up blocks. He’s not the same player as he was in 2019 where he had a 73.2 defensive grade, but he brings experience to the defensive line rotation.

WR Jalen Virgil

Jalen Virgil joins the official 53-man roster with limited NFL experience. He’s appeared in two games this season for the Bills and has not garnered a target. In 2022, he appeared in nine games for the Denver Broncos and caught two of his four targets for 75 yards and a touchdown.

The 6’1″ receiver looks to bring some speed on the outside. At his pro day he ran a 4.4-second 40-yard dash. Virgil is the least shocking of the three Bills signings as it was announced shortly after the team ruled out rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman for Week 10 with a wrist injury.
