Due to the incoming snowstorm in Buffalo this weekend, the NFL made the decision to move the Week 11 game against the Browns to Ford Field in Detroit. Tim Graham of the Athletic was the first one to report it on Thursday afternoon and it was quickly confirmed by the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills will be relocating for a home game due to the snow for the first time since they “hosted” the Jets in a win at Ford Field in 2014. The Bills are now looking at two consecutive games at Ford Field, as they play at the Lions on Thanksgiving Day.
Although the Bills will obviously miss their home field advantage, they will face off with the Cleveland Browns in a dome, which should play in their favor. The Browns defense ranks 31st in the NFL in points allowed (364.0), giving the Bills offense an opportunity to get right. On offense, the Browns have the NFL’s 5th-best rushing offense (158.8 ypg), so maybe a snow game wouldn’t have played out well for the Bills.
In Week 12, the Bills will face a Lions defense ranked 32nd in the NFL in both yards and points allowed. They are also dead last in the league in 3rd down percentage allowed (51.4%). Their offense, ranked seventh in the league in yards, has racked up a lot of points in comeback efforts.
The Bills will try to make Detroit their home for the next two weeks to get their season back on pace after two consecutive losses. Josh has been hard on himself this week in interviews, and now he has a chance to bounce back in an atmosphere that he has been comfortable in. In seven dome games in his career, Allen has recorded 15 total TDS (11 passing, 3 rushing, 1 receiving) and 4 INTs.
Playing the Browns (3-6) and Lions (3-6) in back-to-back weeks on the same field is both an advantage and an opportunity for Buffalo. The Bills can improve to 8-3 if they do what they’re supposed to do in Detroit.
