The Buffalo Bills announced on Thursday morning that they have signed former Titans offensive lineman David Quessenberry to a one-year deal.
Quessenberry is a 31-year old who may be currently peaking as an NFL offensive lineman. He has 23 career starts and 17 of them came last season, as he started every game for the Titans at right tackle. His other 6 starts came in 2020.
A sixth-round draft pick of the Houston Texans in 2013, Quessenberry missed time in the early part of his career due to being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It took three years to beat the cancer, as he completed treatment in 2017.
Quessenberry (6’5”, 310 lbs) has played in 35 career games – 33 for Tennessee and only 2 for Houston. He’ll bring to the Bills experience playing at both guard and tackle, and he’ll join former teammate Rodger Saffold, who signed with Buffalo earlier this offseason.
According to PFF, Quessenberry was the third-highest rated offensive player for the Titans last year (A.J. Brown, Ryan Tannehill) with a grade of 80.9. He posted the team’s highest run-blocking grade (89.7) while also allowing a league-leading 11 sacks in pass protection.
Quessenberry’s versatility will be helpful in terms of making the Bills’ roster, as he has an entire season’s worth of starts at tackle and also has the ability to move inside. Bills GM Brandon Beane has stressed the importance of building in the trenches, and he furthered the notion on Thursday by adding another depth piece to the offensive front – and one that could me moved into the starting lineup if needed.
