The Buffalo Bills announced Wednesday night that they have signed 32 year-old, veteran punter Sam Martin to a one-year deal.

The nine-year veteran was released by the Denver Broncos on August 29th after refusing to take a pay cut for the 2022 season. Martin was due $2.25 million in 2022.

A top-5 punter in the league, Martin averaged 46.4 yards per punt his last two years in Denver. Before joining the Broncos in 2020, he spent seven years in Detroit where he saw plenty of work. Martin is more than capable to come in and handle both punting and place holding for the Bills.

Martin’s signing Wednesday comes on the heels of the Matt Araiza release on August 26th.

Bills fans had their eyes on free agent punters native to the Buffalo area such as Brett Kern and Jake Schum, but they should be happy with the signing of Martin. And, his break up with Denver couldn’t have come at a better time.

It’s rare that a punter receives a highlight reel, but take a look at what Martin’s right leg is capable of:

Bills Mafia, what do you think of the newest Buffalo Bill?
