The Buffalo Bills are bringing the old gang back.

Veteran wide receiver Gabe Davis signed with the Bills practice squad on Tuesday, joining Jordan Poyer and Jordan Phillips in a string of signings bringing back former Buffalo fan-favorites.

Davis is still recovering from a torn meniscus that he suffered in November, which caused his release from the Jaguars, who had signed him to a three-year, $39 million contract in March 2024.

Davis will join the practice squad, giving him time to finish his rehab in a familiar setting and have the opportunity to contribute when he’s fully healthy again. The roster implications of this move are interesting, as the Bills will soon have an open roster spot once DT DeWayne Carter is moved to IR after suffering a season-ending injury. This spot could potentially be filled by Davis.

A fourth-round pick out of UCF in 2020, Davis quickly captured the hearts of Bills fans with his fun personality and proved himself as a down-the-field option alongside Stefon Diggs. In his four seasons with the team, Davis posted 185 catches, 3,204 yards, and 33 touchdowns in the regular season and playoffs. Fans will never forget his legendary performance in the 2021 divisional round against Kansas City, either.

The Bills look much different now than when Davis was last on the roster in 2023. They now have a revamped receiver room that focuses on depth and spreading the ball around, boasting the “everybody eats” motto, which could give Davis an opportunity to contribute once again in Buffalo.
