If the playoffs were to start today, the Buffalo Bills would be on the outside looking in.

Through nine weeks, the Bills have a 5-4 record and are currently the 8th seed, with the top seven making the playoffs.

The Bills are one of twelve teams in the AFC with three, four or five losses meaning the AFC playoff race is wide open and the second half of the season looks to be a wild ride for those fringe-teams looking to reach the postseason.

Luckily for the Bills, all AFC East teams lost in Week 9, so they didn’t lose any ground on the divisional race.  And as it stands today, the Bills have the tie-breaker over the Dolphins, so with one Dolphins loss and a Bills win, the Bills move to first place in the AFC East and would move up to the #4 seed (the Dolphins have a bye this coming week, so we’d have to wait this one out).

The Bills have a tough road ahead, playing five of seven teams that have either a .500 record or better including the Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys and Dolphins.  Here are the Bills remaining eight regular season games:

Week 10               Broncos
Week 11               Jets
Week 12               at Eagles
Week 13               BYE
Week 14               at Chiefs
Week 15               Cowboys
Week 16               at Chargers
Week 17               at Dolphins

The good news for Buffalo fans is that the Bills control their own destiny even after a lackluster month 5-game stretch which included losses to Jacksonville, New England and Cincinnati, and barely beating the Giants and Buccaneers.

Also good news for the Bills is that they play two very winnable games over the next two weeks versus the Broncos and Jets.  Both of these are home games, where the Bills have yet to lose this season.

Just a reminder to Bills fans…in 2021, the Bills were 7-6 at one point, came back and won the AFC East AND played their hottest football in January.

Buckle up Bills Mafia, the last two months of the regular season are going to be a rollercoaster.
