The Buffalo Bills are now down to 5-4 on the season and place second in the AFC East after a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bills lost 24-18 in Cincinnati and have a lot to think over before their next game against the Denver Broncos.
The Good
Josh Allen, QB
Josh Allen did not play mistake-free football Sunday night. Allen went back to his ways throwing an interception for the fifth straight week in a row. On the other hand, Allen threw for a little over 250 yards and had a passing touchdown.
Josh Allen also got involved on the ground taking it himself 8 times for 44 yards and a rushing touchdown.
Stefon Diggs, WR
Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs led the team in receiving yards on Sunday night against the Bengals. Diggs finished the game with 6 receptions for 86 yards and capped his night off with a touchdown.
Dalton Kincaid, TE
Bills rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid continues to show excellence early on in his young career. While Kincaid did have a very costly fumble, Kincaid was second behind Diggs in terms of receiving. Kincaid finished the game with 10 receptions for 81 yards.
Kincaid through his last 3 games this year is already surpassing 200 receiving yards and over 20 receptions.
Dane Jackson, CB
Bills defensive back Dane Jackson was one of the big bright spots for the Bills defense. Jackson finished with 3 solo tackles and had 3 passes defended. Jackson came to play Sunday night and with the addition of Rasul Douglas, Buffalo’s secondary is looking up.
Special Teams
The Bills’ special teams were nothing spectacular but played a clean game. Kicker Tyler Bass hit on his 1 field goal attempt as well as his 1 extra point attempt. Both kick returners Khalil Shakir and Ty Johnson had kick returns over 15 yards.
Defense
While the Bills defense didn’t play a great game you have to consider the circumstance that they are facing, injuries. The Bills are without star cornerback Tre’ Davious White and star linebacker Matt Milano for the rest of the season which leaves the defense torn.
The Bills defense still got banged up against the Bengals but kept the offense in the game. Buffalo’s defense held it to a one-score game but the offense couldn’t get the job done.
The Bad
Run Game
The Bills run game without Josh Allen was very lackluster. The Bills starting running back James Cook ran the ball 6 times for 20 yards, and Latavius Murray had 2 carries for 4 yards.
Ken Dorsey
Ken Dorsey called another poor game for the Bills in the booth. The offense was slow and wavered time and time again. Bills head coach Sean McDermott said once again that there will be no move and the offensive coordinator position which leaves fans flustered.
Turnovers
The Bills turned the ball over twice Sunday night which didn’t help in their efforts to beat the Bengals. Quarterback Josh Allen threw an interception and rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid lost a fumble.
Penalties
The Buffalo Bills did not get their way at all Sunday night. The refs were all over the Bills for penalties, from taunting to roughing the passer, and intentional grounding. Either way, the Bills need to cut down the penalties and give themselves a better chance to win.
