The Bills are tied for most primetime games scheduled this upcoming season (5).
Week 1: Buffalo Bills at Los Angles Rams (Thursday Night Football)
What a way to start the NFL season if you are the Buffalo Bills as you get to travel to LA to face the defending Super Bowl champs. This matchup has been circling social media for weeks until it was announced during the NFL’s schedule release. The matchup on paper is incredible: you have the defending Super Champs, who have the best defender in the NFL in Aaron Donald and a QB that has resurrected his career, going up against the team with the best odds to win the Super Bowl in the Buffalo Bills. The last time these two teams faced each other was back in Week 3 of the 2020 season in Buffalo, and the Bills came on top after a thrilling back and forth game, 35-32. I would not expect anything else in this matchup. Both teams are at the top of their respective divisions and their conference, and this could be a preview of Super Bowl 57 if everything goes according to plan. The stars will be shining bright in this matchup, and we expect to see many fireworks.
Week 2: Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills (Monday Night Football)
This is one of the many revenge matchups for the Buffalo Bills this upcoming season. For the last two seasons, the Bills had struggled against the Titans, and most recently, this past season when Josh Allen was stopped on a fourth down QB sneak that subsequently ended the game. This year’s matchup might look a little different. With the loss of AJ Brown and the additions of Treylon Burks and Robert Woods, the Titan’s receiving room looks a lot different. Don’t forget the looming presence of Malik Willis over Ryan Tannehill as we saw Tannehill’s play start to decline this past season. Once again, this will be the Derrick Henry show, but with Bills’ additions of Tim Settle, Jordan Phillips, and DaQuan Jones, the run defense should be much improved. Another tough matchup for the Bills in the early part of the season, but the Bills have a leg up at every position minus the running backs. Don’t expect a repeat of the last two years in this Monday Night Football matchup.
Week 8: Green Bay Packers at Buffalo Bills (Sunday Night Football)
Fast forward to Week 8 for the Bills’ next primetime matchup, and once again, it will be in Western New York, this time on Sunday Night Football. The QB matchup in this game will be the talk of the league leading up to the game. We have the defending MVP in Aaron Rodgers and the QB right on the cusp of his first MVP in Josh Allen. This will be a game where whoever’s pass defense shows up will probably win. Both of these teams have two of the most prolific offenses in the NFL and two terrific young coaches in Sean McDermott and Matt LaFleur. With Tre White likely back at this point of the season, the matchup that should garner a ton of attention is Stefon Diggs vs. Jaire Alexander. With the loss of Davante Adams, the Bills’ secondary should have no problem with the new and young receiving corps of the Packers. Once again, this is a fascinating matchup on paper, and it will be played under the bright lights on Sunday Night Football.
Week 13: Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots (Thursday Night Football)
This is the most lopsided one out of all of the Bills’ primetime games this season on paper. But that doesn’t matter cause anytime you get to play your division rival, it is always a classic. The Bills went 2-1 against the Patriots last season, but we all remember the beat down the Bills gave the Patriots 47-17 in the Wildcard Round of the playoffs. Honestly, if it weren’t for the weather, the Bills would have been 3-0 against the Patriots, but there’s nothing you can do about that. With the loss of JC Jackson in the secondary and Shaq Mason on the offensive line, this Patriots’ team is less talented than the one they put on the field last year. The Bills have a leg up at every position, especially the QB position. Last year, we saw the difference between an Elite QB and a rookie QB that struggled to throw the ball down the field. Weather permitted, this should be one of the more lopsided primetime games the Bills play this year.
Week 17: Buffalo Bills at Cincinnati Bengals (Monday Night Football)
The Bills’ final primetime game of the year is against the defending AFC Champions in the Bengals. Once again, the QBs are on display (maybe having an elite QB helps). This is a matchup that many fans wanted to see in the AFC Championship Game, but obviously, it didn’t go Buffalo’s way. One thing that stands out in this game is the matchup between one of the best wide receivers, Ja’Marr Chase, and one of the top corners in the league in Tre White. That is probably the number one key to this game for both teams. One thing that gives the Bills a significant advantage is the Bengals subpar secondary going up against Allen and the weapons that the Bills have. With this game being the second to last week of the year, the playoff implications of this game could be huge. Both teams could be trying to clinch their respective divisions and clinch that number one seed in the AFC and secure that ever-important bye week. Once again, this matchup has all the stars, and we get to see a battle between two of the game’s youngest QBs, both of whom are on a trajectory for greatness.
Note: The Bills will also play in Detroit on Thanksgiving Day, and have games against both the Dolphins and Patriots late in the year that have the possibility of being flexed into a primetime slot.
