The Buffalo Bills are currently the 11 seed in the AFC. Yes, it sounds bad, and their record versus the AFC isn’t good either (3-5). Here are the other teams the Bills are in contention with for AFC seeding and their conference records:
Steelers (5-3)
Browns (5-3)
Texans (4-3)
Colds (5-3)
Broncos (3-5)
Bills (3-5)
Here is who Bills fans should be rooting for in this week’s upcoming Week 14 matchups in order of relevance.
Patriots (16) OVER Steelers (5)
Jaguars (4) OVER Browns (6)
Jets (14) OVER Texans (8)
Bengals (10) OVER Colts (7)
The Steelers, Browns, Texans and Colts are all 7-5 and the Bills will have to leapfrog at least two of these teams to obtain one of the three Wild Card positions. To compound the Bills dire situation, their record versus the AFC (3-5) puts them amongst the worst contending teams and this tiebreaker is the first used when determining seeding.
Chargers (12) OVER Broncos (9)
The Broncos and Bills both have a 6-6 record. However, the Broncos have the H2H tiebreaker with the Bills.
Titans (15) OVER Dolphins (1)
The Bills dreams of taking the AFC East are all but shot. The Dolphins are 9-3 and would have to lose two games, while the Bills win out for Buffalo to take the East.
Rams OVER Ravens (2)
The Ravens will most likely win the AFC North, but a loss would muddle the AFC picture slightly.
Vikings OVER Raiders (13)
The Raiders sit at 5-7 and their playoff hopes are worse than the Bills. A loss would all but eliminate them from contention.
