The Buffalo Bills are down to only four receivers on the 53-man roster heading into Week 11 against the Cleveland Browns.
The Bills have undoubtedly had one of the most injured teams in the NFL up to this point in the season, and it’s only hurting more. Buffalo is down to four receivers on the active roster: Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Isaiah McKenzie (missed practice with illness), and Khalil Shakir. Jamison Crowder and Jake Kumerow are both on injured reserve, and Marquez Stevenson has a 21-day practice window which started this week after being on injured reserve since the start of the season.
The Bills have had some questions arise as of late with the production of receivers who are not named Stefon Diggs. Diggs has been a one man crew out on the field and no receiver can seem to back provide consistency behind him. The Bills dropping to only four receivers on the active roster can result in them bringing up practice squad players Isaiah Coulter, Tanner Gentry, or KeeSean Johnson.
The Bills take on a lackluster Browns defense this week at Ford Field due to the heavy snow in Buffalo. With that being said the Bills will have to turn their attention from the snow to figuring out who is going to play this week, and a big question in that regard is, who else is going to play at receiver?
The Bills should look to get Khalil Shakir involved more this week, with or without McKenzie playing, and Ken Doresy could look to get the tight ends more involved or go to the rushing game more.
These problems at receiver could all be solved by signing free agent Odell Beckham Jr. OBJ could help the Bills get back on track in the receiving category and help out Diggs by offering another option in the passing game.
Running back Nyheim Hines is also another player that can get involved in the passing game. The Bills traded for Hines last minute the day of the trade deadline and gave up a conditional sixth round pick and RB Zack Moss.
The Bills need help at the wide receiver position in case one of them goes down. They like to run a spread offense which includes four receivers on the field at one time so we should expect some moves in the coming days to get more receivers on the active roster.
