Buffalo Bills: Who to Root For in Week 7

Root for Week 7

The 5-1 Bills sit second in the AFC, a half-game behind the 5-0 Chiefs. A bye week is a great time to gain ground without taking a hit. For the Bills, the goal is to win the AFC East and secure the 1 seed. Worst case, keep a wild card spot locked up. With that in mind, here is who Bills fans should be pulling for in Week 7.

Bears over Patriots (Final: Bears 30, Patriots 24)

Thursday night already took care of this one. New England falls to 4-3 and sits a game and a half behind Buffalo in the division. The Patriots are the only AFC East team close enough to matter, so every loss they take makes the road to a division title a little smoother.

Seahawks over Chiefs (Sunday, 8:20pm)

Kansas City is the only team in the AFC with a better record than Buffalo. A Seattle win drops the Chiefs to 5-1 and puts the Bills right back in a tie for the top spot. It’s a 3-3 Seahawks team at home in prime time, so this isn’t a crazy ask.

Cardinals over Broncos (Sunday, 4:05pm)

Denver is 4-2 and the current 5 seed. A Broncos loss knocks out another team that could steal a seed from the Bills down the stretch.

Saints over Steelers (Sunday, 9:30am)

Pittsburgh is 4-2 and holds the 6 seed. A loss to a 2-4 Saints team drops them back into the crowd. Set an early alarm, and grab your beignets and coffee. Geaux Saints!

Titans over Browns (Sunday, 1pm)

Cleveland leads the AFC North at 4-2 and holds the 4 seed. Tennessee is 1-5, so this one is a long shot. If the Titans pull it off, the AFC North gets even messier, and that is good news for Buffalo.

Ravens over Bengals (Sunday, 1pm)

This one is close to a coin flip, but give Baltimore a slight edge. The Bills still play the Ravens, so they can take care of them on the field. Cincinnati has a weak schedule and could sleepwalk their way to 13 wins, meaning every Bengals loss is a premium from Buffalo’s perspective.

Dolphins over Jets (Sunday, 1pm)

Miami is 0-5, and the Jets are 2-4, so neither team is a real threat. Still, every Jets loss keeps them buried and out of the wild card picture. Plus, rooting against the Jets and watching Miami lose the #1 pick is always good for the soul.

Giants over Texans (Sunday, 1pm)

Houston is 2-4 and still technically in the AFC wild card mix. A Giants upset keeps the Texans sinking. It’s a long shot, but the NFC can do the Bills a ton of favors this week..

Vikings over Colts (Sunday, 1pm)

Same idea here. Indianapolis is 2-4, and a loss in Minnesota pushes them further from the playoff conversation. The 5-0 Vikings at home should take care of it.

Rams over Raiders (Sunday, 4:25pm)

The Bills beat both of these teams in back-to-back weeks, so they already own the tiebreaker on Las Vegas. Still, the Raiders are a 3-3 AFC team hanging around the wild card race. A Rams win drops them under .500 and keeps them at arm’s length.
