Built In Buffalo writers weigh in on the Bills’ Week 11 game against the Browns
The Bills (6-3) will try and make Ford Field their home this week as they “host” the Browns (3-6) in Detroit due to a historic blizzard in the Buffalo area. Enjoy our score predictions below and let us know your predictions for the home game away from home.
Kam Towle: Bounce-back week is here. After two straight losses, the Bills now get the Browns in a dome at Ford Field. The Browns have the 31st scoring defense in the NFL, and playing in a dome (instead of a blizzard) is a great thing as Josh Allen looks to get back to form. I think the Bills once again get out to large lead, and hopefully this time around they don’t let off the gas. Only 12 points combined in the second half of their last three games won’t cut it. Look for Allen to settle in this week and look for Devin Singletary to play a complementary role to close out the game. One thing to monitor is the pass-catching role of the newly-acquired Nyheim Hines, especially since the Bills only have four active wide receivers. I believe this will be the turning point of the Bills season. Prediction: Bills 33, Browns 19.
Matt Homan: The Bills will be hosting the Browns in Detroit on Sunday—a decision that was announced on Thursday due to major snow hitting the Buffalo area. Buffalo will look to end a two-game losing streak against a one-dimensional Cleveland team.
The biggest obstacle to a Bills victory Sunday is Browns running back, Nick Chubb. On Friday, it was announced that Gregory Rousseau and Tremaine Edmunds will be out with injuries so the challenge will be even more difficult. Chubb is averaging 100 yards rushing per game and a cool 5.7 yards per carry. The Bills have had some problems against the run the past couple games, so keeping Chubb in check is key as the Browns passing game has been anemic.
The Browns come into Sunday with an overall defense in the bottom-third of the league which hopefully will allow for Josh Allen and the Bills offense to get some momentum going after struggling for the better part of the past 10 quarters. Josh Allen has been a turnover machine over this period, throwing 6 interceptions and losing a fumble. Look for the Bills to start righting the ship. Prediction: Bills 28, Browns 20.
Daniel Adams: The Bills are going to go into this game hungry for a win and won’t let up until there’s zeros on the clock. Buffalo has struggled with injuries all season long but even with the amount of injuries on both sides of the ball, plus the sick players and weather conditions, the Bills will have the “next man up” mentality and be ready to go on Sunday. Josh Allen will get back into the groove of being an elite quarterback this week. Buffalo being down to only four receivers on the roster may hurt them but they will figure out a way to run the ball more and get it to the tight ends. Diggs will be a dominant force in the offense this week like always and get a touchdown with 100-plus yards. The defense will have to face one of the best running backs in the league in Nick Chubb. Chubb has been great all season long and the Bills run defense has been lacking at times this season. Buffalo will shut down the Browns passing game this week making the Browns rely on their run game. Poyer will help in a big way if he plays this week. The Bills will win this week at Ford Field and will have success throughout the entire game from beginning to end and wont let off the gas. Prediction: Bills 34, Browns 21.
Ben Morningstar: After a crazy week, the Bills will be headed to Detroit to take on the Cleveland Browns. No matter what you think, this is a very beneficial thing for the Buffalo Bills and their high-powered passing offense. Josh Allen thrives in a controlled setting and environment and he’s going to thrive again on Sunday. With the Bills currently being on a two-game skid, I think they finally have a ‘get right’ game here against a pretty weak Browns team. I think they take care of Cleveland fairly easily. Prediction: Bills 34, Browns 20.
