Built In Buffalo writers and contributors weigh in on the Bills Week 2 matchup
Built In Buffalo content producers have collaborated to share their predictions for the Bills Week 2 game against the Tennessee Titans. We hope you enjoy reading our predictions, and let us know on social media (@BuiltInBuffalo) what your predictions are for tonight’s game.
Matt Homan: When you think of the Tennessee Titans, you think of one person: Derrick Henry. Although he had a modest week yardage-wise against the Giants last Sunday, he’s always given the Bills fits. If defensive linemen Ed Oliver and Tim Settle are inactive for Monday night’s game, it could spell trouble for the Bills. But either way, I do believe this Bills team is on a mission and their offense can outlast ANY offense in the league right now. JA17 is looking for revenge after the heartbreaker in last year’s Monday night matchup at Tennessee. The Bills don’t let this one “slip” away. Prediction: Bills 38, Titans 20.
Daniel Adams: The Bills will be ready to go to work in Week 2 and will be seeking their second win of the season. Buffalo has a few injuries (Gabe Davis, Ed Oliver, Tim Settle, and Dane Jackson) that can cause concern. Davis being questionable for Monday’s game may help the Titans keep all eyes on Stefon Diggs but many young guys and depth players will step up when the time comes. On the defensive side of the ball, the Bills will not have a repeat of last year when they played Tennessee. It will all come down to stopping Derrick Henry, and the Bills revamped defensive line will be up to the task. The Bills will come out of Monday night’s game with their second win on the season. Prediction: Bills 31, Titans 20
Peter DiBiasi: The Bills are coming off a classic opening-night win over the defending Super Bowl Champions. On the other hand, the Titans are coming off an upset loss to the Giants at home. This game could be a trap game for the Buffalo Bills, but are the Bills just too talented? They will be without Ed Oliver in the trenches and have a limited Tim Settle. That could be a significant factor, as we know the Titans rely on Derrick Henry for most of their offense. The Titans on defense will also be without Kristan Fulton, their number one corner. I believe Henry will get his carries, but A.J. Brown, who is no longer with the Titans, has killed the Bills in the past. The Bills’ pass rush and the line are different than last year, and I think they will get after Tannehill, and Allen will continue to cook against a subpar secondary as the Bills keep Tannehill in check. Prediction: Bills 31, Titans 17.
Phil Gong: What a show the Buffalo Bills put on for the world to see against the defending champs in primetime to open up the NFL season. Josh Allen picked up right where he left off as he torched the Rams with both his arm and his legs to lead the Bills to a 31-10 victory. This week, the Bills head back home against a familiar opponent in the Tennessee Titans, a team who has won against the Bills the past two seasons (each time in Tennessee, however). This time the Titans travel to Orchard Park to take on the Bills. Even without Ed Oliver, Tim Settle and Gabe Davis, I expect the Bills to absolutely stomp the Titans into the ground. With their weak offensive line, I’m predicting similar sack production to what we saw in the opener from the Bills’ front four against the Rams, while Allen serves up a classic game throwing to mainly Diggs, Knox and Crowder. The Bills are ready to continue to put the league on notice, and the Titans are just another team in the way of their ultimate goal. Prediction: Bills 38, Titans 17.
Ben Morningstar: The Bills had a dominating performance in Week 1 against the defending Super Bowl Champions and I expect that dominance to continue on Monday. The Bills come into this game as 9.5-point favorites at home against the Titans. The Titans had Buffalo’s number the last two times these teams met, but that was in Nashville, not in Buffalo. The Titans lost a bad one to the Giants Week 1 and while they’re going to be mad and looking to bounce back, I don’t see them keeping the game closer than the Rams kept it. I see Buffalo steamrolling the Titans on Monday with Allen putting up 4 TDs and Singeltary getting on the board as well. Prediction: Bills 38, Titans 17.
