Hello, goodbye, bonjour, hola, adios, Go Bills.

All these terms mean the same thing to members of the Bills Mafia: one of the most unique, considerate, crazy and compassionate fan bases in all of sports. No one compares to them. Their passion, drive and dedication to their favorite team, the Buffalo Bills, sets them apart.

When I was traveling in Iceland, I had several people yell “Go Bills!” at me as they noticed my Bills winter hat. And there I was, talking Buffalo Bills football, with a man from Amherst, in Iceland. It doesn’t get better than that.

The state of Buffalo Bills football has changed so much, that I was loud and proud to be sporting my Bills attire everywhere I went. And even after watching that dreadful loss to the Jaguars from my Airbnb that Sunday in Iceland, I still knew that this was a Super Bowl contending team. A loss like that in recent memory most likely would’ve called for a coach firing, a new QB and another rebuilding phase. But with the roster the Bills have now, we knew that loss was not going to define them by any means.

Unfortunately, that’s what being a Bills fan is like. If you can’t suffer though the lowest of lows – like watching them lose to a Jaguars team that has won a total of two games the past two seasons – then you don’t deserve to enjoy the highest of highs, like watching them trounce Bill Belichick’s daunting defense 47-17 in the wildcard round.

The day Buffalo wins the superbowl, and it will be a day soon, it will most likely be the greatest day ever for Bills fans across the world. The city of Buffalo will be partying for a week straight, and foldable tables will be hard to come by. We haven’t been this hopeful, this optimistic, in a long time, and they have good reason to be: Josh Allen. We have our guy and he isn’t going anywhere for a long time.

Whether it be a sunny, 70-degree day in Orchard Park or a freezing subzero night, Highmark Stadium will be filled to the brim with screaming fans, shirtless men, and even former QB’s that still love the franchise, the fans and the city.

To younger Bills fans, cherish every Sunday you get to watch Josh Allen play quarterback, Stefon Diggs run routes, Tre White cover, and Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer ball hawk. These guys and this team are one of a kind.
