Dr. William Knight and Dr. Timothy Pritts of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center provided updates on the status of Damar Hamlin today, sharing that Hamlin has been released from the Cincinnati hospital and has returned home to Buffalo.
The UC Medical Center stated, “He is doing well and this is the next stage of his recovery.”
Damar Hamlin has been transported to a hospital in Buffalo and Hamlin stated on Twitter, “The docs and nurses at Buffalo General have already made me feel at home!” Dr. Knight said he landed safely and he is going to be observed and monitored in Buffalo to make sure there was no impact to his lungs on the flight. The doctors at UC Medical Center talked with the doctors at Buffalo General and confirmed that he is doing well.
Dr. Knight said, “Damar walked his first lap around the hospital on Friday and he’s on a normal to accelerated trajectory. We continue to be ecstatic about his recovery.” Dr. Pritts said Damar continues to regain strength and has made great progress. The doctors also confirmed that he didn’t have any spinal injury and is neurologically intact, along with that his walking was normal.
Dr. Pritts said that when Nyheim Hines returned the opening kickoff yesterday, Hamlin jumped up and down, got out of his chair and set every alarm off in the ICU in the process.
Hamlin will now continue his next stage of recovery as he awaits to cheer on his Buffalo Bills this coming weekend in the Wild Card Round.
