Ed Oliver’s status for Monday remains in question after not practicing on Wednesday. Head coach Sean McDermott said they’ll take it one day at a time for the fourth-year defensive tackle.

Oliver was hoping to be a part of the Bills’ dominant defensive effort in the opener. However, he injured his ankle in the second quarter. Immediately after the injury, Oliver was able to walk back to the Buffalo bench under his own power and it was reported that he was “probable” to return to the game. He did come back for one play in the third quarter only to exit the game immediately after and not return.

As seen from many angles, has to cut back hard to his right to catch Cooper Kupp, wraps him up & then pile on top of him.
Initially looked to be a medial ankle sprain based on mechanism. 1/ pic.twitter.com/RxojZe3W17
When asked about his injury, he told reporters that he rolled his ankle and that he’ll “be alright.” He was seen leaving the game in a walking boot.
Taking it “one day at a time” doesn’t sound too serious, but if Oliver can’t go on Monday, then the Bills have some solid defensive line depth that could lessen the blow. DaQuan Jones, Jordan Phillips and Tim Settle are capable of holding down the interior, and the Bills have a couple more guys on the practice squad who made some plays in the preseason.

Buffalo already has two DTs on their PS: Brandin Bryant and C.J. Brewer. Ed Oliver’s status for Monday night could be a factor here. We’ll get an update in a few hours.
The good news regarding Ed Oliver’s injury is that he’ll have a full ten days to rest. Next up is a primetime, Monday Night matchup vs. Tennessee, which gives coaches and the training staff an opportunity to assess the injury fully and make a decision closer to game day.
