The Bills have been missing the ability to take the top off the defense in recent seasons.
With Gabe Davis becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason, the Bills could be in the market for at least one, maybe two receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft.
One of the many prospects that come to mind is former Texas star Xavier Worthy.
Worthy this past season at Texas, posted his best statistical season in his college career with 75 receptions, 1014 receiver yards, and 5 touchdowns in 14 games.
Worthy is known for his speed but, more importantly, his deep speed. Throughout college, he had a knack for taking the top of the defense and making teams pay for playing him tight at the line of scrimmage.
Something that he has developed over the years as well is his ability to separate at the point of the attack, something that a lot of the Bills receivers struggled with this past season.
One final thing that could make him stand out on the Bills radar is his ability with the ball in his hands. Scouts have also categorized him as a playmaker with super quick agility that can make any defender miss at any point on the field. The Bills are in desperate need of someone who can take it to the house at any point in time.
Something else to add to why the Bills and Brandon Beane might be interested in Worthy is some recent comments made by Beane at the Combine.
“Buffalo is always looking for explosive players at the skill positions,” mentioned Brandon Beane during his press conference at the NFL Combine
Come April, the Bills could be in play to add a couple of explosive weapons to their receiver room, and Xavier Worthy from Texas might fit that bill.
