The stock of the second-round rookie running back from Georgia has been on the rise in recent weeks

James Cook was a main contributor on offense in the Bills’ Week 13 win over the New England Patriots. Coming out of college Cook was more of a pass-catching running back, but in the Thursday Night win, he did it on the ground and as a receiver. He totaled over 100 total yards. Here’s his biggest play from the win, a 28-yard scamper as part of a touchdown drive:

James Cook led the Bills backfield against the Patriots with 14 rushing attempts for 64 yards and 6 receptions on 6 targets for 41 yards. A couple games back, Cook also had a great game against the Browns with 11 rushing attempts for 86 yards.

If James Cook can continue to show that he can handle a bigger workload then the Bills will give him just that. Remember, after this season, Bills running back Devin Singletary will be a free agent. If James Cook can keep up this level of production both in the run and pass game, then the Bills won’t have to worry as much about the looming free agency.

James Cook had 1,503 yards and 14 touchdowns in the rushing game in college, as well as 730 yards and 6 touchdowns in the receiving game. Through 12 games played in his NFL career, he has 323 yards on 60 rushing attempts (5.38 ypc), one rushing touchdown, and 15 receptions for 151 yards. Cook will have a very bright future with the Bills if Ken Dorsey continues to give him opportunities, especially as a check-down option for Josh Allen.
