Buffalo Bills 2026 training camp is officially underway at St. John Fisher University, with new head coach Joe Brady leading the charge. Brady seeks a different approach than in year’s past, claiming this year’s camp has got to be tougher.
“It’s got to be a tough camp and you get a pulse of the team and where you want it to be and this isn’t supposed to be just fun,” Brady said. “We want to push it and the guys to feel some type of way and I’m excited for us to figure that out and learn and go through it all.”
The rainy weather conditions on the first couple days of camp further emphasized Brady’s message:
“It’s the first day, 8:30 practice, it’s raining, it’s just what I want… we play in Buffalo and we don’t care, just put the ball down and let’s go play.”
Brady has altered Bills training camp this season in hopes to get everyone locked in and on the same page early, with just seven open practices (July 29-August 7) compared to last year’s 10, and an earlier start time of 8:30 A.M. instead of 9:45 A.M. as it was in previous camps.
Brady stresses that he will not try to be someone he is not just because of the promotion to head coach. Brady stated, “I’m just being myself, that’s all I know and I told the team, we’ve never been here before, and I can’t be anybody I’m not.”
Following the first day of camp practice, Josh Allen spoke about Brady, saying, “He relates so well to everyone in the locker room… he’s adaptable, and he’s a great communicator.” Allen added how much Brady loves the game of football, and how much it helps to have an offensive minded head coach who he has worked with before.
Brady’s reunion with wide receiver D.J. Moore will be something to watch this camp as Brady served as Moore’s offensive play caller with the Panthers in 2020-2021, which were some of Moore’s most productive seasons. Allen and Moore have already shown flashes of an elite connection through the first two practices.

Joe Brady covered the injuries heading into camp. Wide receiver Tyrell Shavers (recovering from a torn ACL in January) did not participate after being placed on the PUP list ahead of camp. Edge rusher Michael Hoecht is returning from an achilles tear which he suffered in November and is currently limited, still being managed in hopes of him being ready to go for Week 1.
