Josh Allen looks to continue his dominance over Dolphins Thursday

When the Buffalo Bills travel to Miami this Thursday, it will be the fourteenth time Josh Allen has started versus the Dolphins. To say that the seven-year quarterback has done well versus the Dolphins would be an understatement. 

In Allen’s thirteen games against Miami, here are his statistics:

For the most part, the Bills have crushed the Dolphins since Allen took over in 2018, winning seven of the thirteen games by ten or more points.

But an even more telling story is how the Bills lost their lone two games versus Miami.

The first was Week 13 of Josh Allen’s rookie season where the Bills heartbreakingly lost at Miami, seeing Charles Clay dropping a pass in the endzone in the waning seconds. The final score was 17-21; this was Allen’s “worst” game versus the Dolphins, with 231 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a QB rating of 71.7.

The second time Josh Allen lost to Miami was the “heat game” in 2022. If you remember, multiple players on the Bills were getting IVs due to the insurmountable Miami heat which saw the South Florida sun shine directly onto the Bills sideline. In this game, Allen threw for 400 yards, 2 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and had a QB rating of 94.7. The final score was 19-21—another heartbreaker.

Many naysayers are dismissing the Bills this season due to an exodus of key veterans this offseason including Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Mitch Morse, Tre White, Jordan Poyer, and Micah Hyde—this doesn’t include the injuries already suffered this August, and September to Matt Milano and Taron Johnson, neither of whom will play Thursday against Miami.

With so many “household names” not playing for the Bills in Thursday’s Week 2 matchup at Miami, one might think that the Bills’ dominance over the Dolphins will come to an end—and it very well may.

However, with an elite-level quarterback who has taken his team on his back countless times and willed them to a victory, do not count out Josh Allen.
