Don’t look now, but Josh Allen is quietly having his best season as a pro. He is leading the league in several important statistical categories including Total Touchdowns per Game, Total Touchdowns, QBR and Completion Percentage and is Top 5 in several other key categories.

Even though he is the most dominant quarterback statistically overall, why is he so far behind Patrick Mahomes, Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa and Lamar Jackson in the running Vegas odds? The answer to this question is probably a combination of the Bills recent three-game sputter (versus the Jaguars, Giants and Patriots) and the fact that Josh Allen has a turnover reputation that he cannot shake.
If turnovers are the main concern for Josh Allen being a serious MVP candidate, take a look at how he compares to the others in regard to interceptions…

Josh Allen has had a reputation throughout his career of being a “turnover machine,” which may be true to some extent, but this season the other top MVP candidates are right there with him.
Turnovers aside, Allen has done something NO OTHER QUARTERBACK has ever done—throw for 17+ passing touchdowns and rush for 5+ touchdowns in his team’s first 8 games. The man is on FIRE.

If Josh Allen can continue his current statistical production over the second half of the season and the Bills can stack wins against key opponents (Bengals, Chiefs, Dolphins, Eagles, Cowboys, Chargers, etc) there is no reason why Josh Allen shouldn’t win his first MVP of his career.
