As expected, Matt Milano was a full-go at the Bills’ first day of training camp on Wednesday.
Milano was not limited in any portion of Wednesday’s camp and partook fully in team and individual drills. It should be noted that there are no pads on yet so the practices aren’t very physical. It will be interesting to monitor his usage in camp as the pads come on and the intensity is ratcheted up.
The 29-year-old former All-Pro missed the final 15 games of the 2023 season, including both playoff games after suffering a leg fracture in Week 5 versus the Jaguars. There was a lot of discussion about the severity of his injury and the timetable for his return, but his full participation is a welcome sight to a Bills defense who missed his All-Pro play down the regular season stretch and playoffs.
Whether it be HC Sean McDermott or DC Bobby Babich making the defensive playcalls in 2024, having a healthy Milano in the middle of the field would give that side of the ball more athleticism and more football awareness than what was put out on the field in last year’s postseason.
