With the 38-3 rout of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Sean McDermott claimed the highest winning percentage by a Buffalo Bills head coach in their 62-year history.
McDermott now holds a .616 regular season winning percentage in his sixth year as the Bills head coach, moving him past Hall of Famer Marv Levy’s .615 winning percentage. McDermott was presented a special game ball from Stefon Diggs for his milestone:
Time will tell if McDermott can hold on to the record over his tenure in Buffalo. Marv Levy was a model of consistency, holding the old mark over 182 games with eight playoff appearances and only four sub-.500 seasons out of his twelve with the Bills. McDermott has coached in less than half the games (86) as Levy and has had four playoff appearances and one sub-.500 season.
If McDermott wants to retain the record for another week, he’ll face a tough challenge this coming Sunday when the Buffalo Bills go to Kansas City in what could be a battle for the AFC’s No. 1 playoff seed.
