Micah Hyde has been placed on injured reserve after injuring his neck on Monday night against the Titans, and he will miss the remainder of the 2022 season. The injury came late in the third quarter when he hit his head on the hip of wide receiver Robert Woods. Hyde’s agent (Jack Bechta) tweeted the unfortunate news today:
Unfortunately client Micah Hyde will be put on IR today due to his recent neck injury. Fortunately, we expect a healthy return for #23 in 2023 #BillsMafia #NFL

Hyde has been a key piece to the Bills secondary, and the team as a whole, since he signed with Buffalo back in 2017. Him and Jordan Poyer have become arguably the league’s best safety duo. Now, Hyde will support his team from the sidelines as they chase a Super Bowl ring.
Last season, Hyde posted 74 total tackles, 53 solo tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 5 interceptions, and 1 touchdown. Hyde was ready for another outstanding year with the new additions to the defense.

Safety Jaquan Johnson will get the first crack at filling in for Hyde at free safety. Johnson has been with the Bills since 2019 and he knows the system very well. But, the 2-0 Dolphins will not be an easy first test due to the speed they have at wide receiver with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
The Bills secondary will also be impacted by the absence of cornerback Dane Jackson (also injured his neck Monday), forcing rookies Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford to step up at cornerback one and two. The Bills injury report is longer than they would like, which is concerning going into the Dolphins game Sunday. But, as Sean McDermott would say, it’s “next man up” in Buffalo.
