Overview

Kenneth Grant is a 21-year-old defensive tackle out of Michigan where he played three years for the Wolverines. Grant was a three-star recruit coming out of high school where he played at Merrillville. After arriving at Michigan as a 360-pound prospect, Grant reshaped his body and re-worked his technique but kept his athleticism that made Michigan’s staff want him. Grant showed his full potential, as he racked up 32 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and three sacks in his junior season, while earning Second-Team All-Big Ten honors.

Positives

Grant has an impressive quick first step, putting immediate pressure on offensive linemen. Grant also has great pass rush moves, including swim, rip, club and spin moves. Grant has natural leverage against offensive guards being 6’ 3” and weighing 340 lbs. He also has a good frame and strong base when attacking.

Negatives

Grant has the natural leverage against the interior offensive line, yet sometimes Grant raises his pad level too high and allows guards to get inside him. This allows blockers into his frame rather than using his long arms to create separation to beat opposing offenses. Grant may also have some weight management problems as he’s played from 331 lbs to 360 lbs and his effectiveness has dipped when he has weighed more.

Draft Projection

Grant is projected to be a mid-to-late first round pick which would be perfect for the Bills if he could fall past a few teams and make it to pick 30. The Bills have already been in the works looking for additions to the Bills lackluster defensive line play last season, targeting playmakers such as Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett. Grant would make a great addition to the Bills defensive line. He would add raw strength and game-changing ability.
