Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott helped confirm to Bills fans on Wednesday that the injury to quarterback Josh Allen isn’t as severe as some were speculating. In his Wednesday press conference, McDermott said that Allen’s elbow injury is “day-to-day” and when asked if Allen might still suit up and play in Week 10 against Minnesota, McDermott said, “we’ll see.”
Bills fans can at least breathe a sigh of relief for now, knowing that the injury isn’t major. And, there’s even been word that Allen has told teammates he’ll be ready for Sunday, which shouldn’t surprise anyone to hear him say that:
It’s no secret that the Bills have some things to get right on offense at this point in the year. After a dreadful second half against Green Bay, they followed it up with another bad performance against the Jets. Something tells me Allen knows he didn’t have good game at MetLife, and he wants to be the one to right the ship. Allen wants to be out there, and Bills fans want him out there, but McDermott has stressed that the team will use “common sense” and try and take care of their franchise quarterback. Allen is sitting out of practice on Wednesday.
If Allen can’t go on Sunday, then it would be Case Keenum assuming the duty of starting quarterback for the Bills. That would be a revenge game, if you will, for Keenum, who started 16 games for the Vikings in 2017, including two postseason starts and an NFC Championship appearance.
If Allen is ruled out, the Vikings would be facing their fourth backup quarterback this year due to injury, as they sit at 7-1 on the season.
