Bills will look to bounce back this Sunday at the Ravens after last week’s 21-19 loss in Miami
In Week 3 the Bills suffered their first loss of the season in South Florida to AFC East rival, the Miami Dolphins, by a score of 21-19. It was an extremely hot day down in Miami, which had a bearing on the game’s outcome. Even the Dolphins players had trouble with the heat, which they should be used to.
Buffalo’s seven-game winning streak against the Dolphins was snapped, but it’s one of those games where you need to just get it out of the way. Unfortunately, this is an AFC East loss, but I think the Bills will surely catch up.
There were plenty of positives for Buffalo in the loss. On the day, Josh Allen was 42/63 for 400 yards and two touchdowns. Allen also led the Bills in rushing with 47 yards. Running back Devin Singletary led the Bills in receiving, with nine receptions for 78 yards and one touchdown. Isaiah McKenzie had seven receptions for 76 yards and one touchdown and Stefon Diggs had seven receptions for 74 yards. They totaled 497 yards of offense and occupied the ball for over 40 minutes.
The Bills defense gave up just 212 yards of offense to the Dolphins. That’s a +285 yard margin in favor of the Bills. They dominated the box score but had too many self-inflicted errors that ultimately robbed them of a chance to win the game. I got my hopes up near the end of the game when the Bills forced a Dolphins safety, but it was too late. Buffalo also had their chances with a dropped interception by Matt Milano that would have been a pick-six, a missed 38-yard field goals, a mishap before the end of the first half, and a dropped touchdown by Gabe Davis.
I will admit, I did get as upset as offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, but I did not throw stuff all over the place. It is early in the season, and the Bills will recover from this loss. There’s no reason for overreaction.
The Bills will travel to Baltimore to play the Ravens Sunday, and the Ravens are coming off a big road win in Foxboro over the New England Patriots. This will not be an easy road game as the Ravens have quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is playing some of the best ball in the league along with Josh Allen.
I am confident that the Bills will get back on the winning side. Sunday’s loss was just a bad day and a perfect storm of mishaps. Josh Allen will get back to doing what he does best, and the Bills will recover. They have their sights on a Super Bowl and a Week 3 road loss doesn’t change that.
