The Bills head into their bye week at an even .500, 6-6. Not even the most anti-Bill “experts” predicted the Bills be 6-6 and fighting for their playoff lives at this point in the season. Unfortunately for the Bills the road ahead does not get any easier with road trips left to Kansas City, the LA Chargers, and division rival Miami looming on the horizon. As well as home games with Dallas and New England, if they Bills want to turn this season around they are going to have to steal some games.
After the bye week the Bills head to Kansas City to take on the defending Super Bowl Champion, Chiefs. The good news for the Bills is that they will have an extra week of rest and they have won in KC in each of the last two seasons. The bad news for the Bills is that the Chiefs still have Patrick Mahomes and they are just as dominate as they have been in years past. This game will be just about as much of a ‘must win’ as you can have, if the Bills don’t take this one the season could be essentially over.
If the Bills can survive and win that one, they have another big game coming up at home against the NFC East leading Cowboys. The Cowboys have looked dominant recently, but the question for years with them has been can they do it against top competition. Let’s hope for the Bills sake they cannot and they Bills can get a win at home.
Next, the Bills head to the west coast to take on the Chargers on a Saturday night. The Chargers are an interesting team, they have so much talent on paper, yet just cannot seem to break through and reach their potential. One would guess that the Bills would be favored in this game, but traveling across the country on a shorter week is no easy task. But, if the Bills can win on December 23rd, Josh Allen and the Bills may just save Christmas for all of Western New York.
In the Bills home finale the rival Patriots come to town on New Year’s Eve. The Bills will look to avenge their loss earlier in the year in what should be the easiest game remaining on the schedule.
The season ends down in Miami in a game that hopefully matters for the Bills. The Dolphins will be looking to get some revenge for what the Bills did to them back in week four, and the Bills will *hopefully* be fighting for a playoff spot.
To say the Bills have a Gauntlet to end the season would be an understatement. But if the Bills want any prayer of making the Playoffs they need to win most of if not all of these games. That will be no easy task. But, at least they are showing some signs of fight. The offense has looked as good as it has all season in the last two weeks and Josh seems to have his grove back coming down the stretch. They are going to need a herculean effort out of him to save this season. If anyone can do it, it is Josh Allen, but could it be too little too late in a season that will be looked back on with confusion and a lot of regret.
