The Bills’ second game of the season ended in a 38-10 victory over the Raiders. Josh Allen and the Bills did a complete 180 from last week. After the loss against the Jets there was a major shift in people’s opinions on the Bills. Rumblings of Josh Allen being past his peak, the Bills losing their playoff chances, and everything in between was swirling around media outlets. This week, the Bills showed up and silenced the rumblings. With very few shortcomings during the game, there is a lot to talk about when it comes to what went right for the Bills this week.
Josh Allen’s performance this week was much more characteristic of the elite quarterback. Allen went 31 for 37 with 3 touchdowns and zero interceptions. A huge improvement from last week’s 3 interceptions. Allen looked much more patient and played a lot smarter this week. Other than one 40-yard pass to Gabe Davis, Allen kept his passes short – with all other passes staying under 20 yards. This patient, accurate type of QB play is just what the Bills needed after a rocky week 1. It even earned Allen his 11th AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Regardless of his honorable playing style this week, in classic Josh Allen fashion, he did have to at least try to hurdle someone.

Spencer Brown was another Bills player that had a rough week 1 and had a lot of people questioning his value. Brown’s performance in week 2 has completely flipped that narrative upside down. Brown was up against All Pro DE Maxx Crosby, known for being hard to hold off. Despite the tough matchup, Brown was able to hold him to zero QB hurries or sacks.
Brown was rightfully pleased after the game saying, “The game plan was to get a good night’s sleep and come out here and play your balls off…Crosby’s a handful, I knew that coming in”. Coach McDermott was also impressed with Brown’s performance on Sunday.
Matt Milano had a huge interception this week, leaving everyone stunned. Milano came out of nowhere, jumped up behind Josh Jacobs and was able to get to the ball before Jacobs could – getting his second interception of the season.
This play sums up Milano’s play style pretty perfectly, and is on par with what we’ve seen from Milano in the past. Plays like this are what earned him the All-Pro title last season. That didn’t stop everyone in the crowd and on the sidelines from being completely “wowed” by this interception.

The list of what went right in week 2 could go on and on. James Cook rushed for 123 yards, Damien Harris got his first touchdown as a Bill, Gabe Davis and Dalton Kincaid both looked sharp, Diggs was on point, and the highlight reel goes on. If the Bills show up with this same attitude and focus week after week, the comments from week 1 will be laughable by the end of the season.
