Going into week 4, the Bills were locked and loaded to face a division rival that was just coming off of a 50-point win. The Miami Dolphins were quickly becoming the talk of the league and a lot of pressure was on the Bills to be the deciding factor of how serious both teams are this season. The Bills were looking to be at the top of the division, and if they lost they would be two games behind Miami. While the game started with an electric back-and-forth race, the Bills quickly pulled ahead and ended up beating Miami 48-20. Nearly everything went right for the Bills this week.
- The Duo: Allen & Diggs
Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs both had outstanding games on Sunday. Allen threw for 320 yards and 4 touchdowns. He had a perfect passer rating as well, earning him AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Diggs went for 120 yards and 3 of Allen’s 4 touchdown passes, having one of the best games of his career. Between Allen and Diggs, the Bills looked to have re-established their dominance in the AFC East.
- Coaching
Sean McDermott’s defense has been the star of the show the last few weeks. It’s clear to see that something is clicking with the defense that hasn’t before. McDermott’s defense is much more aggressive than Leslie Frasier’s defense was, and it’s working perfectly for this group of Bills.
Ken Dorsey’s play calling is also much better. He’s been able to create more movement on the offense, with the help of a more stable offensive line to keep Allen protected as well. For the past few seasons, the Bills have seemed to have a lot of talent, but lacked the cohesiveness needed to go all the way. This is arguably the first season in a long while that we have seen a complete Bills team, coaching and all, that could go all the way.
- The Crowd!
The fans in Orchard Park were challenged by Miami WR Tyreek Hill in the week leading up to the game. In an interview he was asked which fan base he is looking forward to shutting up this season, to which he responded the Bills.
Although Bills Mafia always shows up loud and proud at Highmark Stadium, it’s fair to say they took this personally. Even Bills players were encouraging fans to bring their all on Sunday, knowing that it can have a serious impact on both sides of the field. Sure enough, Highmark Stadium was deafening. Miami had a false start, delay of game, and even had to use up some time outs because they were unable to hear the snap count due to the volume of the crowd.
Looking into week 5, the Bills head to London to face the Jacksonville Jaguars. Lucky for the Bills, many fans are making the trip to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. With the momentum of the previous week, the Bills look to be in great shape for this matchup.
