Even though Nyheim Hines time as a Buffalo Bill was short and derailed by a freak off-the-field incident, he still leaves Buffalo with some very key memories.

Now, where does this leave the current running back room for the Buffalo Bills?

James Cook is set to enter his third season in the NFL and is coming off his most productive one. This past season, Cook totaled 1,122 yards on 237 carries while adding 445 receiving yards.

Cook is expected to be the clear-cut running back for the Bills in 2024.

Now, what does that room behind him look like?

During the 2023 season, all three of Damien Harris(who missed most of the second half due to injury), Ty Johnson, and Latavius Murray got the remaining carries and touches that didn’t go to Cook.

All three of them are currently unrestricted free agents, and their future as a member of the Bills is still very much up in the air.

The Bills will likely be in the market for a cheap depth running back in free agency; a Day 3 draft pick could also be in the cards, and they may even decide to bring back Ty Johnson.

Now, heading into free agency and the draft, the Bills have much work to do to create a complete running back room behind James Cook.
