Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba talked about what it would be like to play for the Buffalo Bills in a recent media session at the NFL Combine, complimenting the play of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs.
During his media session, Smith-Njigba said playing with an “elite quarterback” like Allen would be awesome, and said it would be great to be lined up next to Diggs because he could learn from him and expand his game.
Matt Parino, Bills beat reporter for NYUpstate.com, asked Smith-Nijgba, “What is it about Stefon Diggs that you like, when you watch him on tape?” Smith-Nijgba replied, “I think he’s always over exaggerating his routes . . . he’s always looking . . . his spacial awareness is great.”
Jaxon Smith-Nijgba produced a lot for Ohio State in 2021 having 95 receptions for 1,606 yards and 9 touchdowns. Smith-Njigba did not play a lot in 2022 (junior year) due to a hamstring injury, causing him to miss out on big games. At this year’s NFL combine, Smith-Nijgba had a 6.57 second 3-cone drill and a 3.93 20-yard shuttle, both of which were the best times posted by a player.
Diggs was the number one receiver for Buffalo last season, but there seemed to be a big drop-off in production after him on the depth chart. The Bills have a glaring need for a number two receiver.
Smith-Nijgba can surely help the Bills offense with their lack of production. He is primarily a slot receiver but says he can line up anywhere on the field. He is confident in his abilities and could help the Bills win games if given the opportunity. JSN will likely be drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft next month.
