The Buffalo Bills were on the winning side of a one-score football game… they finally did it!

We can lay the “Bills can’t win close games” narrative to rest.

Tyler Bass kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired on Sunday to give the Bills a 23-20 win over Baltimore. They showed impressive clock management down the stretch on their way to improving to 3-1 on the year.

The victory marks the first time the Bills have won a game that was decided by 7 or fewer points in nearly 21 months, going 0-7 in such contests. And, they pulled it off in a game that looked to be out of reach early, as Buffalo went down 20-3 late in the second quarter.

The Bills offense could do no right for most of the first half, turning the ball over twice and scoring only a field goal. Their last drive of the half, however, saw a Josh Allen to Isaiah McKenzie touchdown connection which set the tone for the second half. Buffalo scored 20 unanswered and shut out the Ravens in the second half.

In 2021, six of the seven Buffalo Bills losses were within seven points, including the heartbreaking Divisional Round loss to Kansas City. Before Sunday, the last time the Bills won a game that was decided by one score was the Wild Card game against the Colts on January 9, 2021.

The road win comes a week after a frustrating two-point loss at Miami which led many to wonder if the Bills have what it takes to perform under pressure and overcome deficits, or hold off other teams from coming back. We can lay that to rest.
