Josh Allen broke Dan Marino’s record for the most total touchdowns in a player’s first five years in the NFL in Saturday’s win over the Bears.

Allen broke the record after putting three total TDs on the board against Chicago, putting his total at 174, surpassing Marino’s record of 171.

Dan Marino reached the record a bit differently than Josh Allen did, Marino was not a multi-threat quarterback like Allen is. He used his arm a lot more to reach the record, compared to Allen who used both his arm and legs to overtake the record.

Dan Marino had 168 passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns through five seasons of his NFL career. Josh Allen was tied with the record going into the Bears game. His career regular season touchdowns to this point in his career include 135 passing touchdowns, 38 rushing touchdowns, and 1 receiving touchdown.

Josh Allen breaking Dan Marino’s record is one of many records Allen has already broken and there should be more to come. Allen is putting his name amongst the greatest to ever play the sport of football due to these accolades and it’s something special to watch.
