Many Bills, Bengals, and sports fans all around the world came together following the tragic injury to Bills safety Damar Hamlin in last night’s game.
Over $5.5 million has been generously donated to Hamlin’s charity: ‘The Chasing M’s Foundation Community Toy Drive’.
According to the GoFundMe page, “Damar created The Chasing M’s Foundation to use as a vehicle to bring lasting impact to his community. The foundation supports toy drives, back-to-school drives, kids camps, and more.”
Hamlin started the charity in 2020. Even before he made it to the NFL, he already wanted to give back. The original goal for the fundraiser was $2,500 and it has now received over $5 million in less than 24 hours.
Not only are fans supporting Hamlin and his family but some of the top pros in sports donated to Hamlin’s fundraiser, including Tom Brady and Russell Wilson, who each donated $10,000.
Many NFL teams and other sports teams are continuing to show their support by lighting up their stadiums in blue and red, posting a picture of Damar Hamlin in support of him and his family, and wearing shirts dedicated to Hamlin.
The fans have shown love for Hamlin and his family as they showed up outside of the hospital in support late last night, and today many fans showed up to Highmark Stadium and gathered in prayer for the 24-year old safety.
Sports fans, players and teams will continue the much needed support for Damar Hamlin and his family. This is something bigger than just football; everyone has come together in support of a young man fighting for his life.
