Tua Tagovailoa ruled out for Sunday's playoff game at Buffalo -

It was announced on Wednesday that Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa will miss Sunday’s Wild Card game versus the Bills due to not clearing concussion protocol.

Tagovailoa went 1-1 in his two starts versus the Bills this season. He averaged 210 yards passing, threw for a total of 3 touchdowns with no interceptions and posted a quarterback rating of 111.5.

Miami head coach Mike McDaniel says the team is preparing for Skylar Thompson to start Sunday at Buffalo. Thompson, a rookie, has gone 1-1 in two starts this year with a quarterback rating of 62.2. He has thrown one touchdown and three interceptions.

McDaniel said the team is preparing today as if rookie Skylar Thompson will start vs. the Bills.

Tagovailoa’s opening day backup, Teddy Bridgewater, went down with a pinkie finger injury in Week 16 versus the Patriots and there is still a slight chance of him playing Sunday, per reports.

Tagovailoa, who has been inactive since Christmas Day after experiencing his third concussion of the season, led the league in passer rating (105.5) and managed to pass for 3,548 yards in only 13 games.

On Sunday, the Dolphins are making their first playoff appearance since 2016.
