With the 91st pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills selected linebacker Dorian Williams out of Tulane.
Dorian Williams was a top-5 to top-10 linebacker going into the NFL Draft, and with the Bills’ glaring need at the interior linebacker position, he is a good fit inside and has a high upside. Williams plays with great hard-hitting instincts and will give the Bills a level of intensity alongside a heavy hitter in Matt Milano.
He was a team captain at Tulane and was a three-year starter. Through four seasons he had 195 solo tackles, 316 total tackles, 27 tackles for loss, 9.5 sacks, 13 passes defended, 2 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles.
Linebacker has been a big need since middle linebacker Tremaine Edmunds left in free agency, signing a big, long-term deal with the Chicago Bears. Brandon Beane has stated during his post-pick press conference that Williams may not play interior linebacker but instead play outside which points to the possibility of him sitting a year and contributing on special teams.
Williams will compete against multiple rookie linebackers from last year and re-signed linebackers from years past in this year’s training camp. We will get to see more of what he can bring to Buffalo this offseason.
