The Buffalo Bills will play three preseason games this year starting with the Indianapolis Colts in Buffalo at Highmark Stadium before heading on the road to play the Pittsburgh Steelers and capping the preseason off against the Chicago Bears.

The Bills will be looking to make roster cuts throughout the preseason as rookies and younger, undeveloped talent will be competing and trying to show off their capabilities to earn a roster spot.

Expect to see a competition between Kyle Allen and Matt Barkley for the backup quarterback spot, as well as who will fill the middle linebacker vacancy after Tremaine Edmunds departure and a competition between Dane Jackson, Kaiir Elam and Christian Benford to see who will win the cornerback two role.

August 12: Buffalo Bills vs Indianapolis Colts

The Bills will play the Colts to begin the preseason on Saturday, August 12 at 1:00 P.M. EST. The game will be live on WIVB-TV or you can catch the play-by-play on WGR 550.

The Colts will be starting rookie quarterback and fourth overall pick, Anthony Richardson, in the first preseason game to see what he can do against one of the best teams, depth wise, in the NFL.

We won’t see Josh Allen or Stefon Diggs and presumably any other starters for the Bills on Saturday as they are avoiding any injuries ahead of the start of the 2023 regular season against the New York Jets on Monday night. The Bills will get to see their new coaching moves in effect as well as see how well second year offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey will do. The Bills defense will also be looked upon as head coach Sean McDermott has taken the reins as defensive coordinator and this will be his first live test, against an opposing team.

The Bills vs Colts game will also be holding their “Kids Day” presented by Fisher-Price. The Fisher-Price junior tailgate will be held at 9:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. before the game starts.

August 19: Buffalo Bills @ Pittsburgh Steelers

The Bills will play the Steelers on the road in preseason game two on Saturday, August 19 at 6:30 P.M. EST. The game will be live on WIVB-TV or you can catch the play-by-play on WGR 550.

Last season the Bills faced the Denver Broncos in week two of the preseason where Josh Allen and a few other starters made an appearance. The Bills starters will be playing against the Steelers in preseason game two. Josh Allen, Stefon Diggs and the rest of the Bills starters will be out on the field for about a quarter and a half according to head coach Sean McDermott.

The Bills will also get to see rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid make an appearance and implement a lot of 12 personnel which will get both Kincaid and Dawson Knox involved in the passing game and ramp up the production in the run game with James Cook.  The Steelers have one of the best defense in all of football so Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey will be put to the test.

August 26: Buffalo Bills @ Chicago Bears

The Bills will play the Bears on the road in preseason game three on Saturday, August 26 at 1:00 P.M. EST. The game will be live on WIVB-TV or you can catch the play-by-play on WGR 550.

The Bears are another team such as the Colts and Steelers who have a young quarterback looking to progress this season and the Bills could be a good test. Just like the Steelers there is no word on if third year quarterback Justin Fields will start for the Bears.

The Bills will most likely not be playing any starters ahead of the first week where they play the Jets. If Fields is playing in the final game of the preseason then Sean McDermott is going to be tested against a run heavy quarterback such as Justin Fields.
