The road to the Super Bowl won’t be a walk in the park for the Buffalo Bills in 2022, as they have the 12th-most difficult schedule in the NFL. Their list of opponents for this season is littered with the league’s top teams. Below, we’ll rank the top five most intriguing games for Buffalo this year. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow’s NFL schedule release (Thursday, May 12) to see where these top matchups land on the 18-week schedule.

Here’s a reminder of the Bills’ opponents this year:

No. 5: Miami Dolphins

I’m putting the Dolphins at number five here because of the offseason acquisition of Tyreek Hill as well as all of the hype the Dolphins have received this offseason. We’ve even heard some people go as far as to say the Dolphins are going to win the division! With this type of hype surrounding them this year, and this being a make or break year for Tua Tagovailoa with all the weapons he has at his disposal, it’s definitely going to be an interesting matchup for Buffalo. We’ll see if they can own the Dolphins like they have the past couple years, or maybe Miami will be able to be competitive with them.

These two matchups with Miami will be very intriguing this year, and it’s an opportunity for Buffalo to once again assert their dominance in the AFC East. Many believe that Miami will pose a greater threat to Buffalo this year than the Patriots will. If Buffalo wants to sit atop the AFC East throne for the third year in a row, they will have to get by Miami to do so.

No. 4: Green Bay Packers

The Packers and the Bills pose a very interesting game this year. It will feature two of the best QBs in the league in Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers and this could very well be a preview of a Super Bowl matchup. This game will be played in Buffalo which is a huge advantage for the Bills considering how big the home field advantage is for the Packers at Lambeau Field.

This will be the first matchup between Josh Allen and Aaron Rodgers since Allen’s rookie year in 2018 (Packers won 22-0). This will be another big test for the Bills this year as it’ll be interesting to see if Buffalo can compete with the best of the best in the NFC. And their performance in this game will determine if they are ready to take that next step.

No. 3: Kansas City Chiefs

Arguably the best current rivalry in the NFL right now: the Bills vs. Chiefs and Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes. Two years in a row the Chiefs have ended the Bills’ hopes of a Super Bowl in the playoffs. The Bills will get a chance to avenge last year’s devastating Divisional Round loss as they travel to Arrowhead once again. However, this year it’ll be different. The Chiefs will be without their elite WR Tyreek Hill as they let him go in a trade with Miami this offseason. Hill has been a Bills killer the last couple years and there’s no doubt that this will be a much different game without his presence and speed on offense.

If the Bills are to go to the Super Bowl this year, the Chiefs are a team that they will have to beat in the regular season if they want to lock up that #1 seed and have the playoffs run through Buffalo. That is why this will be such a crucial game when these two teams meet.

No. 2: Cincinnati Bengals

The Bills will face off against the defending AFC Conference Champion Cincinnati Bengals this year. There has certainly been a lot of hype surrounding the Bengals and Joe Burrow this past season, for obvious reasons of course, and Buffalo will go head to head with them this year in another “prove it” game. Many people are saying that Burrow will ultimately end up being the better QB between he and Allen when all is said and done. After all, he has been to a Super Bowl and was very close to winning it as well. This is going to be another big game for Buffalo this year, and a challenging one at that.

“The Bengals should be the team to beat in the AFC!” “The AFC runs through Cincinnati!” “Buffalo shouldn’t be ranked above the Bengals!”

I’m sure many of us have seen comments like this on social media at the start of the offseason, and that is why this is a crucial game for the Bills. The Bengals were able to do what Buffalo was not able to do: beat the Chiefs in the playoffs.

With the loaded talent in the AFC this year, especially at the QB position, there will be constant debate throughout the year of who the better team is or who the better QB is. Josh Allen and the Bills will be able to silence the critics once again this year when they travel to Paul Brown Stadium. The Bengals will be another team that they will need to beat to prove they are Super Bowl worthy, because Burrow and the Bengals will certainly be ready to make another run in January.

No. 1: Los Angeles Rams

For the top matchup in 2022, we’ll go even bigger than just facing the defending AFC Conference Champs. Buffalo will also face off against the defending Super Bowl Champions this year and it will once again be on the road. It’s not a big help to Buffalo that most of these big games this year are going to be played on the road, but that just increases the challenge for them and prepares them for the future.

Von Miller will be going back to LA after leaving to come to Buffalo and it should be a warm welcome back for him, having just helped the Rams secure another Lombardi trophy, and the first one for them in LA.

This game will most likely have remnants of what many of us thought the Super Bowl should be, or was going to be this past year. In LA, it’s most likely going to be a prime time game, and you know there will be a good amount of celebrities in the stadium waiting to watch this kid from Buffalo that’s been talked all about ever since that playoff game against the Chiefs.

There is a chance that this will not be the only time these two teams meet this year and we will get to see how the Bills matchup against superstars like Matt Stafford, Cooper Kupp, Aaron Donald, and Jalen Ramsey.

Buffalo’s schedule isn’t anything close to boring this season. We will be getting to see how the Bills matchup against the best teams in the NFL this season, and I can not wait for that. While we all may be looking at the schedule, nervous of the great teams the Bills have to face this year, I can assure you those other teams are going to be shaking in their boots seeing the Buffalo Bills coming into town.
